Experience
I have been a tutor for 8 years, specialising in writing prep, essay writing, academic writing, and college application and personal essays. I was an Associate Tutor at Birkbeck College, University of London and taught at Oasis Academy, Southbank and a tutor with Brilliant Club in London until 2015. I received training with Brilliant Club on tutoring for high school students with the aim to be accepted to top-level universities. My tutees were accepted to Oxford, Cambridge, Durham University and Exeter. In Marin I have been tutor to international and local households, assisting in AP English, college applications and short-prep essay writing, which is used on many standardized tests. I am a published academic, with a PhD in Humanities and Cultural Studies. As such I focus on essay writing and proofreading with a strong background in English Literature. I have UK teacher trading from Birkbeck College, University of London and Brilliant Club, both focusing on essay writing, study skills, devising analytical arguments and public speaking. I have specialised training in Preparing Students for University, Adult Education and teaching arts and humanities in higher education. While much of my background is in tutoring at the University level, I have found this helps enormously with my high-school pupils, and ensures they are ready for the rigours of university. The most important thing for me in tutoring is the individualised approach. I like getting to know my students, so I can really help them understand - not just perform well. Every student is unique and has my dedication.

Hobbies
I love working with students who struggle to organise their thoughts or, need the tools for writing. I am also a great lover of books, I read largely fiction or history. I lived in London for 7 years, and have always enjoyed traveling and experiencing other cultures. It also means that I am very happy to be somewhere with beautiful weather and plenty of space to hike and bike. Being outdoors and being active is so important to a happy and full life, and I am lucky to be in such a beautiful place to do it!
